Six Flags

Refreshed UX and integrated CMS to drive enhanced customer engagement and revenue.

Six Flags is a company that operates 27 parks across the United States, Mexico, and Canada. It has world-class roller coasters, family rides, up-close animal encounters, and water parks. For more than 50 years the company has entertained millions of families from all over the world. Six Flags Corporation is the world’s largest regional theme park company.

The Challenge

Disconnected systems and resource-intensive upkeep hinders an integrated customer experience

Six Flags faced a number of challenges with its CMS and UX. Their website was built on an old version of Drupal, which no longer met the company’s requirements. A lot of the enhancements they wanted had to be done directly in the code which required advanced developer skills, rather than through a simple modern web interface that could be handled by content managers. This made content updates a challenge to manage.

The site also served as a centralized source of information to other systems: operating schedules, events, restaurants, shows, information about  attractions. Everything was consumed from the site to multiple, disparate systems.

Another challenge was the sheer size and scope of the site which included 27 amusement park sites, roughly 2,700 pages, 880 rides, multiple third-party integrations, and parks in different languages.

The Solution

Moving to WordPress to accommodate easier, faster content updates

Argano replatformed the site to WordPress to accommodate new capabilities. The team incorporated SEO-friendly redirects to ensure there was no content loss.

WordPress was a better fit as it provides a modern, easy-to-use and easy-to-maintain infrastructure, while giving their content team improved functionality to maintain and update complex content requirements directly themselves – without needing to ask their developers to assist with every edit and update. Fundamentally, the replatform has made Six Flags’ work more efficiently.

The Results
