Achieving scalability, flexibility, and mobility with an ERP solution overhaul
The Challenge
Copper State Bolt & Nut Co.’s (Copper State) numbers lay the groundwork for its challenges: 37,000 different part numbers, 6,500 customers, more than 40 million pieces being shipped every month. Its previous system — Dynamics AX 2009 — was not “keeping up with the speed that we were growing as a company,” said Carl Spackman, Vice President of Finance.
While it was ideal when first installed in 2011, Copper State’s rapid-fire growth made Dynamics AX seem antiquated as the on-premises ERP system was preventing it from going mobile, limiting its growth, and, Spackman said, could even have impacted the company’s entire existence.
The Solution
The cloud and Dynamics 365 were selected as the fit for all of Copper State’s ongoing challenges. Argano would implement the new platform and migrate all ERP data to the new platform. Additionally, the award-wining Microsoft partner would provide the training and insight required to ensure Copper State’s in-house team would be able to take full advantage of the flexibility its new cloud-based solution provided, and scale operations and data collection/oversight as needed.
The Results
With greater scalability, flexibility, mobility, and never having to upgrade or implement again, Copper State Bolt & Nut Co. has a successful future locked down. The company is able to speed decision making (as its data structure was imported with all tables loaded). Additionally, mobility has been a major success driver as the company continues to expand into new areas and has team members constantly on the move. With D365, it’s as if all business processes are still taking place under one roof.
