From Legacy to Leading Edge: Supply Chain Overhaul Drives
Business Success

The challenge: An aging on-premises ERP is no match for a changing global supply chain

Hampton’s house of brands is a familiar one: Brinks, Keeper, Wright Products — these are just a few of Hampton’s brands and some of the most trusted names in the security hardware and cargo management industry. For more than 30 years, Hampton has provided reliable and innovative security solutions to home and commercial hardware sellers. For almost as long, it had been using an on-premises ERP and supply chain management system, which limited connectivity, scalability, and agility.

But with supply chain and transportation costs rising, complex international shipping regulations, and an increase in demand for its products, Hampton needed greater visibility into its market, resources, and operations. It needed to move beyond standard costing methods, account for true landed costs, and generate pricing based on real-time insights. And it needed to empower its customers with easier access to such information as well.

“As a manufacturer and wholesale distributor, we rely on accurate, complete, and real-time information,” said Brian Millsap, Hampton's Senior Vice President and CIO. “Our success depends on efficiency.”

The solution: Dynamics 365 for high-performance operations

Hampton required a fully integrated order fulfillment system, a unified platform with a 360-degree view of customer and transaction data that would allow users to see the real-time status of every order.

It needed to provide clients with a self-service platform that could let them know exactly what was ordered and where inventory was at any given time, with automated order status updates. And it needed real-time, accurate, and optimized warehouse management with an eye to inventory status — from global transportation, to warehouse receiving, to fulfillment. It needed Dynamics 365.

The results: Smart, faster, work — and record-breaking numbers

Starting with a full system assessment to establish the right plan to address Hampton's requirements, Real Dynamics (an Argano company) created an implementation plan that would serve Hampton’s immediate needs while concurrently ensuring its ability to adapt as markets and global SCM trends shift. The plan delivered one success after another:

Order fulfillment teams work smarter and faster: With Dynamics 365, Hampton can now track inventory through transit, receiving, and fulfillment using automated replenishment alerts, and picking bin locator data has improved efficiency and team cohesion within its distribution center.

Inventory managers have better visibility to product availability: With increased visibility to products in transit and available stock in the warehouse, Hampton can better manage orders with accurate inventory data, and enjoys more precision verifying item location, quantity, and availability.

"With Dynamics 365, we optimized the picking process to deliver record pick and ship numbers within 90 days [of go-live]," said Flor Salcedo, Hampton's Director of Operations and Continuous Improvement.

Customer service is more efficient and proactive: Agents have gained a complete view of each retailer's history, current order status, and future needs, and a more intuitive user interface (with automated workflows) can make new users productive in a short time.

Procurement and sales potential are unlocked: With real-time inventory visibility and master planning (to recommend replenishment orders), sales teams can view wholesale pricing and adjust their sales orders in real time.

With Dynamics and Argano, Hampton’s future looks more secure than ever.
