Global Media & Entertainment Conglomerate

Modernizing procurement to unlock efficiency, visibility, and compliance at scale

1

The Challenge

A leading global media and entertainment conglomerate faced significant operational challenges due to fragmented procurement and finance systems that could no longer scale to support strategic growth. The company’s legacy tools and decentralized processes created inefficiencies, increased compliance risk, and made it difficult to manage enterprise-wide spend and compliance complexity across global markets. Specifically, the organization struggled with disconnected spend data across multiple platforms and manual, error-prone invoice workflows.

Siloed supplier management and inconsistent procurement practices across business units further exacerbated these issues. Delayed invoice validation and payment cycles, limited data insights, and a legacy architecture unable to support efficient operations hindered the company's progress.

To address these challenges, the client decided to modernize its operations by implementing an integrated, cloud-based Source-to-Pay (S2P) framework. This new framework aimed to unify systems, increase automation, and drive enterprise-wide efficiency and governance, ultimately unlocking the benefits of modernized procurement.

The Solution

The client partnered with Argano to execute a comprehensive transformation of its Source-to-Pay landscape. At the core of the solution was the implementation of Coupa, tightly integrated with SAP and supported by an agile, middleware-powered data ecosystem.

The Argano team deployed a multi-pronged strategy to streamline data flows, enable real-time visibility, and build a scalable infrastructure for continuous procurement modernization. Key components of the engagement included:

  • Coupa-SAP Integration: Automated core procurement workflows (requisitions, POs, goods receipts, invoices) through middleware-powered connections via the Enterprise Data Hub (EDH)
  • Master Data Governance: Enabled SAP to feed clean, consistent master data to Coupa via EDH, establishing a single source of truth
  • Boundary Application Highway (BAH): Developed a standardized P2P integration framework leveraging webMethods middleware to reduce integration effort and simplify architecture
  • API Enablement: Delivered plug-and-play APIs through EDH, allowing rapid onboarding of additional business units and use cases
  • Built-in Governance and Security: Ensured all integrations adhered to enterprise-level compliance, security, and supportability standards

The Results

The transformation significantly enhanced the client's ability to efficiently manage spend and supplier relationships across a global footprint. With automated workflows, standardized data, and improved compliance, the organization is now equipped to operate with agility and insight. Key outcomes included:

  • Global invoicing compliance improved by 30% through automation and standardized processes
  • Manual effort reduced by 40%, accelerating procurement cycle times and reducing errors
  • Stronger supplier relationships enabled by faster payments and transparent processes
  • Real-time spend visibility across business units empowered data-driven decisions
  • Enterprise-wide cost savings unlocked through standardized workflows and smarter sourcing
  • High user adoption and morale, fueled by intuitive tools and reliable process execution

This unified, scalable procurement architecture now serves as a foundation for the organization’s ongoing digital transformation, enabling future innovation across finance, operations, and supplier ecosystems and positioning the company for continued growth.
