Global agricultural supply company maximizes Oracle investment to drive greater efficiencies

1

The Challenge

Outages and skill shortages hamper growth plans

A Berkshire Hathaway company in the agricultural supply space with 3,000+ employees worldwide and 46 manufacturing and warehouse facilities, CTB started with the Oracle JD Edwards World software suite in 1997, using it to manage financial, procurement, inventory, payroll, manufacturing configuration, and more. As the company grew, CTB found that heavy use of JDE solutions along with multiple 3rd party apps led to outages, and keeping up with updates as well as finding employees with JDE skillsets proved difficult.

The Solution

A cloud migration to enable scalability, improved functionality, and cutting-edge technology

CTB wanted a natively integrated end-to-end solution on a common platform to improve communication between the distinct areas of a high-volume manufacturer and distributor. The company was looking for a solid foundation for critical business systems, one that would provide scale, evolving functionality, and technology via quarterly updates. Argano consultants used their in-depth experience with JDE solutions to map CTB’s software footprint to Oracle Cloud solutions. The results illuminated areas for application consolidation and new opportunities for business process automation, as well as the financial impact and business value of a cloud migration.

The Results

A complete technology transformation that helped CTB continue to get the most out of their Oracle Cloud investment

CTB made the decision to move to Oracle Cloud and Argano consultants created an implementation timeline and plan—to ensure CTB would realize the full business value of the end-to-end enterprise modernization. The migration to Oracle Cloud was done in phases, with Argano, Oracle, and CTB working to ensure that business was not disrupted as the new systems were installed. Phase one included Oracle Cloud EPM and Oracle Cloud HCM. Phase two brought in Oracle Cloud ERP (Financials, Project Management), Oracle Cloud SCM (Manufacturing, Supply Chain Planning, Order Management, Procurement, Inventory Management), and Fusion Analytics (ERP, SCM, HCM), along with work on Oracle Transportation Management, Oracle CPQ, and RF-SMART.
