Cold Storage & Logistics

Empowering Rapid Nationwide Expansion with Blue Yonder Partnership for Seamless Warehouse Operations

1

The Challenge

Scaling a national cold storage network amid tight timelines and complex operations

A leading cold storage and supply chain logistics enterprise specializes in providing third-party handling, storage, distribution, and value-added services to the food industry. By designing and constructing fully temperature-convertible buildings and applying modern supply chain technology, the company bridges innovation and supply gaps in the U.S. cold industrial market, creating significant value for customers and supporting their strategic objectives.

In 2022, the client launched an ambitious platform to develop a national cold storage network, aiming to add approximately 200,000 pallet positions of refrigerated and frozen capacity. This vision materialized in summer 2023 with the opening of additional U.S. facilities. However, the overlapping go-live dates for these massive sites created resource strains and demanded a robust technological solution to futureproof warehouse and transportation operations.

To address this, the client partnered with Blue Yonder for its warehouse management system (WMS), transportation management, labor management, and warehouse tasking capabilities. Implementing this at scale required expert services to ensure precision, efficiency, and alignment with the aggressive timeline—leading to Argano’s involvement.

The Solution

Expert implementation services + advanced capabilities

Argano has executed supply chain solutions across the globe, focusing on operational efficiency, technology integration, and process execution. As one of only five Blue Yonder Gold Partners, Argano brought proven expertise to support the client's rapid expansion, delivering faster time to value and seamless executions.

From day one, our implementation services team addressed the project's demands, including SOP review for preparation, RF testing, printing testing, locations scanning testing, hypercare support, and coordination in training support. These efforts ensured thorough, accurate, and fast task completion, maintaining the timeline while enhancing customer experience.

This solution leveraged Blue Yonder's digital supply chain tools to optimize warehouse operations. The collaborative approach provided a comprehensive suite of go-live support, transforming potential overlaps into streamlined executions and reinforcing trust through experienced supply chain experts.

The Results

Four live sites, accelerated go-lives, and enhanced operational support

The partnership yielded impressive outcomes: four sites went live in Hazleton, PA; Burleson, TX; Phoenix, AZ; and Atlanta, GA, with three go-lives achieved in just three weeks (Burleson, Phoenix, and Atlanta). More than 60 clients, including Tillamook Foods, Tyson Foods, and Norpel, are now supported across these sites.

A dedicated Argano Captive Services team handled configuration, testing, and go-live activities, while live sites transitioned smoothly to the Argano helpdesk for ongoing support. This not only met the client's growth ambitions but also delivered superior efficiency and reliability.

We're very proud [this client] chose to partner with us in their endeavor to rapidly develop a national cold storage network of high-quality facilities. They put their trust in us because they knew we had knowledgeable and highly experienced supply chain experts to help with the implementation of their WMS, TMS, LMS, warehouse tracking capabilities, and more. We're also proud that we delivered on all that they requested, and then some.
