From Silos to Synergy: Building an Edge with Unified Cloud Supply Chain Management
The Challenge
Belkin, a global consumer electronics company, is a market leader in computer and mobile accessories. Founded in 1983 as a maker of network cables, Belkin today designs, manufactures, and sells headphones, speakers, wireless chargers, power banks, device docks, and smart-home products in 50+ countries. Belkin has been growing at a rate much faster than the industry average; new products are introduced almost every month, and old products are retired at a similar rate. Belkin’s existing Supply Chain Planning (SCP) application around Logility was not able to support such rapid growth, requiring them to implement a new solution. The new system needed to deliver a range of advanced capabilities, including New Product Introduction (NPI) planning, sell-in/sell-through forecasting, constrained supply planning, and automated order allocation.
The Solution
Belkin partnered with Argano to explore the extensive capabilities of Oracle Cloud SCM, with a particular focus on supply planning, demand management, global order promising, and backlog management. Belkin selected these modules to establish a global Collaborative Planning, Forecasting, and Replenishment (CPFR) business process. One of the key advantages of this solution was its ability to provide a holistic view of global inventory within a single platform. This enabled Belkin to transfer parts internally, reducing reliance on external suppliers and minimizing procurement costs. Additionally, the integrated system facilitated better pricing from vendors by consolidating purchasing requirements across different regions, leveraging economies of scale.
The Results
To date, Belkin has successfully implemented Oracle Supply Planning and Demand Management, empowering the company to manage its CPFR process within Demand Management Cloud. There is frequent data transfer between Oracle Cloud SCM and Oracle EBS, and that has led to faster and better decision-making. It also ensures data integrity across the organization. The improved data integrity has encouraged more users to adopt the new system, which in turn has helped Belkin establish global Supply Chain Planning processes. No more silos in SCP!
Looking ahead, Belkin plans to implement Oracle Global Order Promising and Backlog Management. These modules will further enhance Belkin’s supply chain capabilities, ensuring that customer orders are fulfilled promptly and efficiently. For both the currently installed and upcoming modules, new Oracle Cloud Applications features and enhancements will be introduced on a quarterly basis. This commitment to continuous improvement will lead to more informed decision-making, drive better business outcomes, and position Belkin for sustained success in the highly competitive electronics market. By staying at the forefront of technological advancements, Belkin continues to deliver exceptional products and services to its global customer base.
