The Challenge

Not enough shared value and too much risk for a US-based service provider with big plans to scale globally

Skanska USA, a management services company with 7,300 supporting clients in a wide range of industries, did not have enough visibility into the supplier community. They lacked a sophisticated procurement solution, putting them at risk for fines and non-compliance potentially in the millions of dollars. Skanska also had a need to modernize its HCM solution. In addition, their current solution did not support supplier qualification management and their social commitments to diversity, sustainability and small business partnerships, and overall business growth.

Oracle Procurement Cloud within Oracle Cloud ERP made it possible for Skanska USA to incorporate sophisticated supplier qualification management and integrate it into Oracle JD Edwards. By taking a holistic view of Skanska’s business, Argano implemented a hybrid solution of Procurement Cloud and JDE that supports their corporate mission and social commitments, addresses compliance issues, and improves daily business operations in procurement and human resources—while also integrating with and upgrading their JD Edwards ERP solution to 9.2.

The Results

A significant impact on project management, vendor qualification and sourcing, and the prevention of fraud

Skanska is using Oracle Integration Tools to perform the important task of global integration to Cloud HCM, while also leveraging Argano 4 Oracle Managed Services for 24/7 support of JDE. The Cloud Procurement / hybrid JD Edwards 9.2 implementation enabled Skanska to build a customer project management tool for tracking small, minority-owned subcontractor contracts and payment, a process for vetting vendors (including tracking onsite visits), and a process for DBE vendor project status tracking, evaluation, and periodical audits for the prevention of fraud. The solution also helps the organization with its ongoing commitment to diversity and sustainability and provides modern integration to JD Edwards.
