Team of business people working together at a laptop

It’s no secret: businesses must stay on top of the latest technology trends to streamline operations, optimize costs, maintain a competitive edge, and maintain a level of service that keeps customers satisfied.

In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, for instance, many businesses are investing in technologies that enable them to build resilience and adaptability to navigate future disruptions. As technology constantly evolves at a rapid pace, with new general business technologies, industry-specific technologies, and consumer-facing technologies emerging every day, adopting all the latest innovations is out of reach for some businesses.

Most experts agree that business leaders should avoid “shiny object syndrome,” or the temptation to purchase the latest and greatest technology simply because it’s the current trend.  The primary reason for offering that advice is that technology advancements are rarely one-size-fits-all; a technology that can completely transform one business’s operations can create bottlenecks in another.

Still, it’s important for chief information officers (CIOs) and other business leaders to stay on top of the latest technology trends and gauge if—and to what extent—those trends will impact their industry, as well as whether those technologies are worth exploring. Investing in the right technologies, however, can be game-changing for your business.

To gain some insight into the technologies poised to make the biggest impact on businesses in 2022 and beyond, we reached out to a panel of technology professionals and business leaders and asked them to answer this question:

“What are the most important technology trends for 2022 that companies should be aware of?”

Jacob Olins | @EposNow

Jacob Olins is the VP of Marketplace and Strategic Partnerships at Epos Now.

“The biggest technology trends to be aware of in 2022 are:

Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR):

AR and VR are already making waves in the business world, and their popularity is only going to continue to grow in the coming years. Both technologies offer businesses a wealth of potential opportunities, and it’s important to start preparing now to make the most of them. AR can be used to create digital versions of physical products, which can then be used for marketing or product demonstrations. For example, you could create a virtual version of your product that can be viewed on a phone or tablet. VR, on the other hand, can be used to create immersive customer experiences. For example, you could create a VR experience that allows customers to tour your store or facility before they visit in person.

Embedded Finance:

Embedded finance is the use of technology to provide and deliver financial services that are directly connected to devices or systems. For example, you could connect a wearable device to your bank account and then automatically transfer money into a savings account every time you reach 10,000 steps. The connection between digital service and physical products creates many new possibilities for businesses, and it will be important to explore all of them in order to stay ahead of the curve.”

Damian Enderle | @AdultDiaper365

Damian is the founder of an e-commerce company called Adult Diapers 365.

“I think one of the main workplace automation trends that will prevail in the near future is the increased usage of robots. For menial tasks such as cleaning buildings, or even mass manufacturing of products. So much so that, with the popularity of chatbots, people will be replaced with artificial intelligence (AI) technology as well.

This prediction has also been supported by Gartner, which has forecasted that the market for such products will reach around $600 billion by next year. Subsequently, this also means that companies will move towards digitalization and cloud-based collaboration, through online meetings, data storage, and workspaces rather than physical ones—since during the pandemic it has become crystal clear that a hybrid working model is more appropriate than either extreme of working entirely on-site or remotely.”

Roger Huang | @Springboard

Roger Huang is the Director of Growth Operations for Springboard, an online learning platform focused on tech industry upskilling and education.

“The most important technology trend for 2022 is remote work tech. Organizations around the world developed work-from-home policies in response to the pandemic, and their success has been quite shocking. Remote work is here to stay as businesses throughout the world adopt a hybrid work culture. I think it is important to stress that while the world retrofitted pre-pandemic technology to meet their demands, 2022 will see technology leaders innovate to achieve ongoing corporate success and boost employee productivity through the use of technology created expressly for hybrid/remote work.

When it comes to remote work, for example, ramping up/innovating battery performance is critical to an ‘untethered’ experience. It enables devices to last longer and charge faster, resulting in a more seamless and long-lasting device experience. Furthermore, workers in a remote work setting want a ‘hands-free’ and touchless computing/mobile experience, especially for virtual communications.”

Anton Giuroiu | @Homesthetics

Anton Giuroiu is an architect and the CEO and Founder of Homesthetics, where he shares the expertise of the team in all aspects of design and aesthetics. He also runs a small architecture office in Bucharest.

“One of the most important technology trends for 2022 is generative AI, where an algorithm is used to create new ideas, based on existing ideas but not copying those ideas as is. For the next year and the years to follow, people won’t need to generate content from scratch anymore, as these ‘learning’ AIs will be the ones to produce ideas that humans will be using. This means that guesswork will be eliminated, and our time will be used producing content that we know will not just add to the clutter on the web. That being said, businesses that do not use generative AI are placing themselves at a significant disadvantage.”

Mike Chappell | @FormsPal

Mike Chappell is the Founder of FormsPal, an online platform that supports communities and individuals regardless of their gender, age, nationality, or religion by offering high-quality legal forms online.

“Hyper-automation is one of the most prominent technological trends for 2022. Hyper-automation is a critical tool for firms that want to be future-proof. It incorporates AI-enabled robotic processes, but it extends well beyond robotic process automation (RPA) to integrate other digital technologies such as the Internet of Things (IoT) to enhance company operations and customer happiness at all levels.

By integrating processes, people, and products to achieve hyper-automation, intelligent automation combined with the newest artificial intelligence technology increases the standard. This technology tries to quickly identify, evaluate, and automate as many processes as possible to boost corporate resilience and growth. It is a promising manufacturing and supply chain technology that offers the correct answer to the global supply chain’s inefficiencies.

Companies with high-volume processes should automate and simplify them to speed them up and allow for real-time adaptability to changes in demand or obstacles. As a result of hyper-automation, the future involves re-imagining work as accomplished by technology-enabled workers rather than performing activities with robots.”

Hays Bailey | @sheqsy

Hays Bailey is the Director of Sheqsy, a mobile app that helps organizations safeguard their remote workforce through a lone worker security platform.

“A technology trend to watch for in 2022 is low-code and no-code software. Automation and the development of apps for everything are becoming increasingly vital for everyone, from large organizations to small businesses and even professionals and amateurs. However, comprehensive knowledge of numerous programming languages has historically been an impediment. Low-code and no-code are software development methodologies that rely on visual components such as dragging and dropping to build software. While code-based software is unlikely to disappear anytime soon, low-code and no-code solutions can significantly reduce the time required to construct an app or software.”

Marc Bishop

Marc Bishop is the Director of Business Growth at iDigiMagnet. With years of experience, Marc’s leadership style has evolved to the point where he values developing others above all else while leading and getting results. Nothing is more satisfying than knowing that one can help others grow into capable, ethical leaders themselves.

“Organizations have realized the power of edge computing as the amount of data they deal with grows. Edge computing is designed to address some of these issues by avoiding latency and delivering data to a data center for processing. It can exist on the edge, closer to the point where computing is required. As a result, edge computing can compute time-sensitive data in isolated locations where connectivity to a centralized location is limited or non-existent. Edge computing can act as a mini data center in these situations.”

Vaibhav Kakkar | @DWS_Global

Vaibhav Kakkar is the CEO and Founder of Digital Web Solutions (DWS), the Agency for Agencies, fueling some of the top agencies around the UK, USA, and Australia. Through a futuristic approach to digital marketing, DWS helps more than 58 agencies stay consistent with their goals by handling 100% of their backend tasks—content, link building, and development.

“Artificial Intelligence has been the talk of the town over the last decade. It remains one of the hottest new technology trends because of its significant impacts on how we live, work, and play. AI is already famous for its supremacy in recognition and image, navigation applications, smartphone assistants, ride-sharing apps, and a wide range of other applications. AI can make businesses more efficient in terms of workforce, customer service, and data sorting.”

David Bourgeois

David is a long-time technology business leader, entrepreneur, and small and medium-sized businesses (SMB) business consultant who now leads the REX Technology Solutions team, which is focused on improving safety and efficiency in the Architecture/Engineering/Construction (A/E/C) industry.

“The most important technology trend for 2022 will be the rise of automation.

The COVID crisis expedited the transition to remote and hybrid workforces, combined with a worker shortage and supply chain challenges. Companies must determine how to get the same (or better) results with fewer people, which is driving the need for automation.

Since the need for automation now outweighs the concerns of technology taking away jobs, 2022 will be the year automation becomes mainstream for SMB business leaders. Expect companies of all sizes and in all industries to start implementing basic steps to automate routine and reoccurring tasks. The keys will be automation tools that can be monitored, controlled, and repeated with little human involvement requiring basic AI.

As business leaders get more comfortable with basic automation tools, they will seek out intelligent AI to further streamline, schedule, and automate their business workflows.”

Hutch Ashoo | @pillar_wealth

Hutch Ashoo is the founder and CEO of Pillar Wealth Management. He has personally been serving the complex needs of high net worth and ultra-high net worth investors for more than 30 years. Mr. Ashoo is the author of two books, Beyond Wealth, Finding The Balance Between Wealth And Happiness as well as The Art Of Protecting Ultra-High Net Worth Portfolios And Estates, Strategies For Families Worth $25 Million To $500 Million.

“Passwordless authentication is a technology development that businesses should be aware of in 2022. Passwords are on their way out. As AI and machine learning become more intelligent, even the strongest passwords can be cracked quickly. After all, there is a limit to the length and complexity before it becomes unusable.

Almost everywhere, we’re going to see a steady shift toward passwordless authentication via mobile devices, tokens, and possibly biometrics. Not only will this save you the bother of maintaining and changing dozens of passwords regularly, but you’ll also be considerably safer and less vulnerable to brute force and phishing assaults.”

Siddhesh Jain | @solutiontales

Siddhesh is the founder and owner of Solution Tales, a website designed to keep you up to date on lifestyle trends, current technology, and creative ways to make money that work within your day-to-day life.

“One of the most important technology trends that will grow in 2022 is sustainable tech. Already we are seeing an increase in electric vehicles, more sustainable houses that use technology to decrease your carbon footprint, and more tech companies that are sustainably procuring their products and materials.

This kind of tech initiative is focusing on what it can do to help the planet long term. With the major advancements in technology, we will be seeing greener and greener solutions in 2022 and more companies opting to focus more on these sustainable solutions. Many consumers are wanting to make changes to help reverse the effects of climate change, which means we will be seeing more available options in the near future.”

Pablo Lopez

Pablo Lopez is the CMO & Founder at topflight Agency.

“The future of marketing is virtual reality. This is an ever-increasing industry that will change marketing as a whole once Metaverse fully launches. As more and more people discover a universe behind their visors, we’ll see an increasing demand for advertising optimized for VR or able to interact with the audience directly.

The future of VR comes in many shapes—video games, socials, movies, even whole offices, right in front of your eyes. The companies that will be able to create the best, unobtrusive ads for VR will be the marketing agencies that will prevail.”

Lucie Chavez | @RadarisAmerica

Lucie Chavez is an experienced marketer, grown from zero to hero, and the CMO of Radaris. She is passionate about content, customer journey mapping (CJM) activities, and her family. Mother of two daughters, Lucie manages to make herself a better person than yesterday every day.

“AI and automation for general tasks, especially in newer remote working processes, will continue to grow because it has only touched the surface. Many companies are still in the beginning stages of getting set up for remote work, and I think everyone knows that automation can be maximized in a bigger way to make things easier and more effective.

Automation will be used in ways we can’t even imagine and should be able to make things much easier for newly remote companies. For example, creating reports and compiling data will not be something that anybody has to do in the near future because automation will be used to collect it naturally. Look for this data to be introduced naturally, and it will evolve quickly to really become a technology we use regularly.”

Kent Lewis | @kentjlewis

Kent Lewis is the President & Founder of Anvil.

“The Metaverse will evolve from distraction to (virtual) reality for brands. While many believe Facebook’s rebrand as Meta and focus on the Metaverse is a strategic distraction from bad press fueled by the Facebook Papers, we believe at Anvil that their horsepower and deep investment in the Metaverse, along with other major players like Microsoft, will expedite many brands to dabble in the virtual world in 2022. While consumers may be a few years from caring about the Metaverse, early adopters will embrace the novelty and utility.”

Ravi Parikh | @Rover_Pass

Ravi Parikh is the CEO of RoverPass.

“Data fabric has long been talked about as the fastest rising technology trend for 2022. It provides flexible and resilient integration of data sources across platforms and users, making data available to everyone involved no matter where they are. Data fabric can also use analytics to learn and recommend where data should be used and changed, reducing data management efforts and freeing up employees to use their time in other more productive ways.”

Paige Arnof-Fenn

Paige Arnof-Fenn is the founder & CEO of global marketing and branding firm Mavens & Moguls based in Cambridge, MA. Her clients include Microsoft, Virgin, The New York Times Company, Colgate, and venture-backed startups as well as non-profit organizations. She graduated from Stanford University and Harvard Business School. Paige serves on several Boards and is a popular speaker and columnist who has written for Entrepreneur and Forbes.

“The three biggest tech trends to follow in 2022 are privacy moves to the front burner. The EU and China have already made it a priority, but I predict that Congress and the U.S. courts will increase regulations and tech companies will continue to change settings based on consumer demand.

The Metaverse and the investment in virtual and augmented reality technology are here to stay and only getting bigger. It will be a completely new vision for interacting with the online world with Meta, Apple, and Microsoft leading the way.

Internet access expands. Between the new infrastructure bill that passed and SpaceX’s Starlink and other private communications satellite technology, everyone everywhere will have fast internet speeds including rural and developing areas. It will be a game-changer for developing countries and emerging markets.”

David Adler | @TravelSecret_

David Adler is the Founder and CEO of The Travel Secret. David is a seasoned entrepreneur who has had extensive experience in travel, e-commerce, marketing, HR, and international business.

“A very important technological trend for 2022 is voice recognition. This artificial intelligence technology is becoming more and more important as it simply makes people’s lives easier. For this reason, companies should start looking for ways to implement strategies that allow them to find information by voice in a simple and fast way. Additionally, as virtual voice assistants like Alexa and Google suggest more and more things to people, it will also be a great way to segment, create audiences, and create campaigns to become the preferred recommendation.”

Matt Strutte

Matt Strutte is the head of growth at the world’s top-rated digital business card app, Blinq.

“The key technology trend we’re seeing emerge for the year ahead isn’t about new hardware; it’s to do with recruiting tech talent.

We’re seeing companies all around the world fighting for tech-savvy talent to bolster their ranks as economies head online as a result of the pandemic.

Blessed are the developers in our new reality! Attracting top talent means recruiters need to be able to share who they are and the roles they have on offer quickly and efficiently. We’re also seeing more and more firms choose to empower their team with contactless digital business cards to share contact details and attract sought-after talent.”

Adam Korbl | @ifaxapp

Adam Korbl is the Founder & CEO at iFax, Amplify Ventures, and Fill App.

“Two of the most important technology trends to be aware of in 2022 are:

Embedded data and analytics

Companies need to be able to harness data from a wide array of sources and make it easy for business users to see what’s going on in order to give them a 360-degree view of the business. This shift makes data available everywhere it’s needed, regardless of where the data lives.

Cybersecurity mesh

Cybersecurity mesh presents a holistic method for addressing security pitfalls and holes associated with end-users and devices located outside network walls. It is a distributed architectural approach for scalable, flexible, and reliable cyber control. It helps organizations of all sizes deliver comprehensive protection across physical, network, and cloud layers.”

Richa Nathani

Richa Nathani is the Content Manager at Dialed Labs.

“One of the most important technology trends to be aware of in 2022 is improved security practices owing to future technologies. With the onset of hybrid working and emerging technologies, cybercrime is still a prevalent problem that continues to threaten organizations globally. Since many companies have shifted their operations online, improving their cybersecurity remains the utmost priority. The answer to this lies in combining cybersecurity tools with AI software so that organizations can safeguard their online processes and protect sensitive information from a security breach.”

Mike Thompson

Mike Thompson is a passionate finance practitioner. Having managed a sales and support team at a secured lender before, he is now a writer for Hyperlend, where he regularly contributes blog articles to help consumers better understand their personal finance choices.

“Technology constantly evolves and advances over time. And as technology plays a vital role in business, businesses must keep up with the trends and changes. As a business and finance person, one technology trend businesses should look out for in 2022 is blockchain and cryptocurrency. Blockchain and cryptocurrency can be major disruptive forces in business and finance, significantly impacting how organizations transact with their stakeholders. And that is why they need to understand what blockchain and cryptocurrency are and the potential benefits and risks it can offer as it continues to rise.”

Jonathan Tian | @mobitrix5

Jonathan Tian is the Co-Founder of Mobitrix, a U.S.-based smartphone solution provider for data transfer, iOS system errors, and more.

“The most important technology trends for 2022 that companies should be aware of are:

Artificial Intelligence:

One of the most evident and powerful AI tactics on the horizon is generative AI machine learning algorithms. These machine learning (ML) algorithms learn about the content or things from their input and use it to produce new, unique, realistic artifacts.

Scams, fraud, political misinformation, phony identities, and other unlawful behaviors can be made possible by generative artificial intelligence. It can be used for several objectives, from producing software code to supporting drug research and targeted marketing. Generative AI will account for 10% of all data created by 2022, up from less than 1% presently, according to Gartner’s predictions.

Intelligence for Making Decisions:

The ability of an organization to make decisions may be a substantial source of competitive advantage, but it’s growing increasingly complex.

Understanding and designing how decisions are made is the focus of decision intelligence, including how results are evaluated, regulated, and improved via feedback. About a third of significant companies, according to Gartner, will employ decision intelligence in the next two years to improve their competitive advantage.”

Jonathan Tian | @heyslingshot

Chris Howard is the CIO and Chief Product Owner of Slingshot. Chris has spent the past 20 years creating innovative technology solutions. He’s built products that generate an average of $25 million annually without breaking a sweat. Chris believes that technology can help drive business, not inhibit it. He views his role as simply making technology work for Slingshot’s customers.

“The biggest challenge for CIOs in the coming year is dealing with COVID’s likely long-term impact on the workforce. The CIO has to rethink the tools and resources required to connect a workforce that no longer works physically alongside one another in the office. Work from home and hybrid schedules are likely here to stay. In fact, they may become a sought-after competitive offering for those seeking future employment and for companies in retaining existing talent. While challenging, if done well, there are significant advantages here for businesses. Managers no longer have to hire people within close proximity to the office, which results in a larger pool of candidates. Work from home will likely result in a reduction in office space needs, resulting in cost savings. To be successful, the CIO has to retool the workforce, empowering employees to work collaboratively and securely from the home or office.”

Abe Breuer | @viptogo

Abe is the CEO and owner of Viptogo.

“Two important technology trends to be aware of in 2022 are:

Decision Intelligence

Despite the fact that it has been around for a few years, Decision Intelligence (DI) is still fairly recent in the information technology (IT) world. It’s a piece of software that allows firms and business executives to see what may happen if they make a certain decision. DI contrasts with artificial intelligence in how it enables businesses to use AI for increased profit and expansion.

One critical asset fuels Decision Intelligence: data. As a result, this assists businesses in unlocking the value of their data. In other words, it makes it easier to make more sensible and consistent business judgments.

Telemedicine

Everyone in the healthcare industry is working to limit the risk of coronavirus infections among both employees and patients. Telemedicine services are now available at many commercial and government clinics. Artificial intelligence conducts diagnoses using pictures, and medications are provided without interaction.

Teladoc Health, Amwell, Livongo Health, One Medical, and Humana are among the public corporations that presently offer this service. In conjunction with telemedicine, further developments in the fields of biotechnology and artificial intelligence are also expected in 2022.

Diagnostics, administrative tasks, and the design of medical robots will all benefit from machine learning (such as Suki AI).”

Adit Jain | @LeenaAI_

Adit Jain is the co-founder & CEO of Leena AI, an autonomous conversational AI-backed platform that helps enterprises improve the employee experience. Adit began his entrepreneurial journey with Chatteron in 2015. A study of why Chatteron wasn’t making enough money brought him and the co-founders to the concept of Leena AI. Today, with an annual turnover of more than $10M, it has become one of the leading SaaS products in human resources (HR) tech.

“One of the most important technology trends that companies should be aware of is automation and virtual assistants. With companies working in hybrid and remote work modes, the development and automation of virtual assistants help companies reduce the time they spend answering employee queries. This development helps to improve and reduce the time investment in hiring processes, onboarding, offboarding, and general HR queries. The development of a singular virtual assistant or a master virtual assistant helps to ensure that all employee queries are taken care of.”

Cathy Mills | @Net_Influencer

Cathy Mills is the Director of Strategy for Net Influencer.

“One of the most important technology trends for 2022 is m-commerce. This technology promotes e-commerce through phones or tablets. These electronic devices are becoming more and more indispensable in people’s lives, as today they’re used not only to call or chat but also to watch videos, consume content, read blogs, enjoy series and movies, and of course to buy things. For this reason, the right e-commerce technology that enables a superior user experience will be key in the future.”

Yazan Sehwail | @teamuserpilot

Yazan Sehwail is the Co-Founder & CEO of Userpilot, a product experience software that helps companies such as Cisco personalize their in-app user experience for millions of users daily.

“More advancements in remote tools and platforms will continue as an important tech trend into 2022. A lot of money has been spent and made on tools to complement remote teams and help them be as productive as possible, and more systems are in the works that will be released in 2022.

These tools are being built to improve communication, allow other people to collaborate effectively, and even put together instant reports that can be helpful to the employees, managers, and even clients. Who knows—a tool to help your remote company jump to the next level could be released in just a matter of months!”

Ellen Steel | @idlive

Ellen is the Marketing Coordinator for Intelligent Decisioning Ltd., a UK-based organization supporting businesses through Microsoft Developments. Through detailed data, the company was able to develop their Mercury Intranet product. Through further analysis of marketing insights, Ellen has spent time understanding the needs and behaviors of the technology industry in her role, alongside SharePoint developers and experts on the team.

“Three technology trends to be aware of in 2022 are:

The rise of avatars:

Microsoft recently announced that they will be introducing avatars into Microsoft Teams meetings. These will be able to be customized to mirror your appearance and can be used as an alternative to video calls in the future, as they will follow your reactions and help battle the issues of camera-off Teams calls. These avatars are just the start of a big change in the digital landscape, and the ability to represent yourself online in a complex form is something that we predict will become popular throughout 2022.

Hyper-automation:

When the world shut down in 2020, it made us all realize how important it is to love what you do, and the realization that so many people dreaded their day-to-day work was demonstrated by the Great Resignation post-pandemic. Menial tasks are a thing of the past, and while automation has been on the rise for a while, 2022 is the year that hyper-automation takes over as entrepreneurs aim to create businesses that run themselves.

Privacy-enhancing computation:

As people become increasingly aware of the use of their data, privacy-enhancing computation will reach a new height in 2022. Gartner predicts that by 2025, 50% of large organizations will have implemented measures to process data. This will usher in a new age of information gathering as companies will have to alter the ways they gain insight into their industries and target markets.”

David Wagner | @Avasant

David Wagner is the Senior Director of Avasant Research.

“The biggest trend for 2022 is going to be immersion. The pandemic has put up physical walls between us, and more of us will continue to work from home. But a convergence of several technologies will allow us to be more present than before.

First, collaboration tools are going to become more sophisticated as we adapt to hybrid work environments. Virtual whiteboards and screen sharing will give way to true virtual environments, though the dream of the Metaverse is probably still a few years away.

Natural language processing (NLP) will allow digital assistants (and robots) to go from canned instructions (Alexa, turn up the volume) to be more useful in practice, particularly with search. This will put more and better data at our fingertips, allowing us to make better business decisions. It all converges in a more immersive, interactive, hands-free environment.”

Andrew Chornyy | @plerdy_com

Andrew Chornyy is an Ideologist and CEO of Plerdy.

“The last two years have shown us that technology is crucial in any field, be it healthcare or retail. Hence, if you want to lead your industry, you must follow the tech trends.

I would call 2022 the year of responsible AI. It means we will adopt AI systems that focus on accurate and reliable predictions. The insights they generate must be applicable in real-life situations and easy to interpret. Other next-year tech trends include the transition to the cloud, growing importance of smart data analytics, and increased cybersecurity. They reflect the needs of modern online businesses that seek more agility and need to fight off regular cyberattacks.

And, of course, remote work solutions remain in demand. Companies implement software that enables their team members to collaborate from their homes.”

Ilya Zaprtski | @iTechArt

Ilya Zaprutski is a Solution Architect at iTechArt Group, a software development and consulting company in the U.S. Ilya is keen on frontend development, big data, and IoT.

“It’s probably a bit early to talk about a ready-made and fully-fledged artificial intelligence since as we can remember, devices with ‘smart’ prefixes appeared only about a decade ago. In fact, ‘smart’ just stood for the presence of some functions that automated part of the work for the user. The concept remains the same to this day; however, the number of functions that those systems can perform for us has increased (e.g., an autopilot in a car).

Today, artificial intelligence has already infused the tools that we use on a daily basis: smart vacuum cleaners, thermostats, and voice assistants of all sorts. I’d also like to point out that IoT is leaping forward, and the availability of 5G networks allows us to process data a lot faster. We could only dream of such opportunities a few years back.

Right now, we can observe that most cloud providers are implementing various services that help develop applications based on AI. For example, Amazon Web Services (AWS) has ready-made services (advanced text analytics, chatbots, demand forecasting, image and video analysis, real-time translation, and text to speech, to name a few) that you can use right away without deep knowledge of machine learning. Moreover, AWS provides a number of services based on which users can build their own models and algorithms to create AI solutions.”

David Ciccarelli | @davidciccarelli

An experienced technology entrepreneur, David is the Founder and CEO of Voices. His company has been written about in The New York Times, CNNMoney, BusinessWeek, Entrepreneur Magazine, and Fast Company. He is currently attending Harvard Business School and is a frequent guest speaker at industry conferences.

“Each year, Voices compiles an Annual Trends Report using internal data and widespread survey information to make predictions for trends in the coming year. This year, one of the notable trends we noticed for 2022 is how audio-focused our world—stretching from retail and grocery shopping to marketing and advertising—is becoming. Audio is presenting new opportunities for authentic branding, marketing, and audience outreach, and technology is shifting ever more toward audio-first.

“In order to stay ahead of the curve, a variety of industries will need to incorporate audio technology into their regular workflows. This might look like an audio assistant on a grocery store’s website or at the self-checkout, creating a branded podcast for your business, or incorporating more audio-focused technologies, like smart speakers, into daily routines. These audio experiences will help to bridge the gap between company and consumer and lead us into a new, more authentic age of customer service and marketing.”

Technology is advancing at a rapid pace, and it’s likely we’ll see some new innovations in 2022 that disrupt the status-quo. Staying on top of the up-and-coming technology trends will help your business navigate the waves of change and maintain a competitive advantage.
